The Research Symposium 2023 was a success, marked by insightful presentations, engaging discussions, and a thriving academic spirit.

Opening (9:50-10:00):

Graduate Student Talks (10:00-12:30):
Six impressive presentations by our graduate students! We congratulated Masato Terai and Masaki Eguchi for successfully completing their PhD program! (see their presentations: Terai’s slides & Eguchi’s slides). Masato is Assistant Professor at Aichi University of Technology and Masaki is a Research Assistant Professor at Waseda University.
Nobuhiro Kamiya(Nobi)’s masterful MC with dice questions. Is SLA useless? Can you predict the future of applied linguistics? 🙂

Faculty Talks (14:00 – 17:00):
J-SLARF faculty members delivered fascinating talks, sharing their state-of-the-art research. Again, the dice question before the presentation by Nobi skyrocketed the presenters’ anxiety levels🙂 The post-presentation Q&A session created meaningful dialogues. The topics ranged across various disciplines, showcasing the breadth and depth of cutting-edge research!
